Mission & Purpose
The Black Musicians Coalition is a safe space for young black creatives to thrive with each other and experience a sense of community at Kennesaw State University. Our mission is to positively influence the experiences of African-American musicians and artists by congregating and discussing current events regarding prejudice and racism. We set out to do all of this while enacting social change in our surrounding community. This organization showcases and represents black artists in a way that allows them to freely express themselves! Though we were founded and created at a public university, we plan to expand our outreach beyond the limits of a college campus!
Since 2021, we have produced an annual DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) award-winning production called "The Blueprint". This show takes place every February and is a celebration of black history through the eyes and mouths of the many great black talents in our organization.
